How to open an M3U playlist

An M3U playlist (or M3U8) is a simple list of addresses: for each channel there is a name, sometimes a logo and a category, and the stream address. Your service provider gives it to you as a link (starting with http) or as an .m3u file. To watch it you need a player: here is how to open it in seconds.

In the browser (computer, tablet, phone)

  1. Open tvsplayer.app.
  2. The first time you see the “Add your playlist” field: paste the M3U link and press Add. If you have a file, choose “From file”.
  3. Channels appear by category. Tap a channel to watch it; in full screen the channel list is on the left.
  4. To add more playlists go to Playlists. The same channel in several playlists becomes one row with several links.

On an Android phone or tablet

Install the free TVS Player app from Google Play, tap “Add playlist” and paste the link (or choose the file). With the optional account you find the same playlists in the browser too.

On the TV

From the browser or the app use the Chromecast button to send the channel to your TV. On Android TV you can use the app directly.

If a channel does not play

  • The player tries the other links of the same channel by itself; links that do not work are marked OFFLINE.
  • In the browser some providers block playback from a website: try the Android app.
  • Check that the playlist link is still valid (many providers change it or let it expire).

Use only playlists you have the right to use: TVS Player is just a player and provides no channels.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between M3U and M3U8?

None for viewers: M3U8 is the same list written in UTF-8. HLS streams are also called M3U8, and the player plays them.

Can I open several playlists together?

Yes. Channels with the same name are merged into one row with all their links.

Where do I find my playlist link?

In your provider’s customer area or email. TVS Player does not provide playlists.
